Born and raised in Luanda, Angola, Lubetina Makunge (originally Albertina Macunge) is the daughter of a seamstress and granddaughter of a tailor, and since her childhood her interest was drawn into the world of fashion. In her adolescence (during the Single Party political period) when textiles factories shut down and the clothing businesses were affected, young Lubetina dressed in her own mother and grandfather’s creations. Yet, the young designer to be was not pleased with some of their models and decided to draw her own clothing. This self-taught fashion stylist is finally making her dream come true by presenting her very first collection at this second edition of MODAAFRICA.
“Dreams and memories”
In the designer’s words: “Dreams and memories” is a collection based on your memories and dreams that sound like a smile, by a sunset, an instant of eternal thanks (…) persistence!”.
